WHO WE ARE

About us
Avicena was established in 2013 by a team of professionals motivated by universal human values, with a strong commitment to health and social equity.
Our name is inspired by the legacy of Avicenna (Ibn Sina) an influential 10th century Persian philosopher and doctor. With his research into metaphysics, logic, physics and medicine, he revolutionised observation, experimentation and logical reasoning. His contributions transformed the scientific knowledge of the time, contributing to medical advances and laying the foundations for public health as we know it.

We devote our heads and our hearts to each project, to improve people’s lives.
Since its creation, Avicena has evolved from being a company focused on health and social issues in the Maghreb region, to having an international standing, with presence in Spain, Morocco and Colombia.
Our international experience allows us to draft proposals and analyses to respond to global health challenges, improve equity in health, and transform humanitarian action into opportunities for people and communities.

Our values
At Avicena we believe that a different world cannot be built by indifferent people.
We stand for diversity
We work with a wide variety of organisations and actors in different countries, cultures and geopolitical and institutional contexts.

We adapt
We design tailor-made projects, using methodologies that evolve and adapt to suit each organisation, strategy and territory.

We are humanists
We promote local changes that create opportunities for improving the lives of the people for whom we work. This way of understanding health and social equity is part of our humanist approach.

We innovate
We bet firmly on creativity and innovation to foster new ideas and add value to organisations and communities.

We are independent and ethical
We act independently and ethically during the entire process to guarantee plurality and representativeness in our analyses.
